Now that the gloves are off for fighting torque....although Boss is conspicuous by his silence, the race is on to find the fastest Cerbera shaped blob, ( surely i can call it that?), i have been taking some measures to ensure my victory smile

While the motor is apart and i am awaiting the new con rods before i can get the rotating assembly balanced, i have been doing some other stuff....

Here i have been wuzzering out the combustion chambers to an exact measurement so i get the comp ratio i desire, also widening the chamber to unshroud around the valves, i dont mind telling you this was a pain in the @rse as you had to wuzzer each chamber a bit at a time until i reached 65cc, but it was a case of remeasuring constantly. I used the new head gasket as a guide to chamber size.

And then it was onto the ports, i have to finish the last of it tomorrow, but here is one i did earlier.

Brum

Not intending to be critical. Please don't be offended!!

But surely "Mongrel" is a better description??

"A Cross Breed" that nearly always gives the best of both parents?

After all, Cerberus was the three headed dog guarding the gates of hell!!
I bet he got to shag every bh that tried to get in or out! smile
So there must be a few of his off-spring lurking about somewhere.

But with all the effort you are putting in, I can only admire you and can't wait to see the results! EAT them all!

Boss spec? Well we know its a 5.0 dry sump AJP8. 500bhp, 440lb/ft with bonnet air intakes, big bore stainless steel exhaust (8 into 4 into 2).

So, a match for brummie?

Anyones guess!

500 bhp is what it says on the TCR profile description for Boss Cerbera, which its fair to assume Phil wrote himself.

Sounds f#*cking lethal to me!

Brummie,

I've been in most fast Cerbs and yours is definitely the quickest, and even in your lesser spec you would still be the fastest at FT2, in your new spec you will simply be further ahead. Nickccc will put in yet another top show for the class he's in and Bosscerb I doubt will enter. Good luck with the new lump.

Jules.

Seconded... He was listed as going last year I think with both cars, until his cars needed work doing to them.

...

Brummie have you gone for eagle rods (again?) or Callies Compstars?? just curious as I am getting a set of compstars.

You know I should have had my engine parts by now, so many damn delays...

You know different?shoot

Surely if it was made any more powerful they would have to chuck the t-5 gb?

In any case this thread is about a V8 with 103.4mm bore and 101.6mm stroke which is going into one red Cerbera.

You tell em El!, Callies cos thats what he says he's got. Heads all ported today and one bank assembled. Turns out my original block is nearer 6.2 than 6.3 as its not been honed to a bigger size, so my this increase is going to be a near 700cc increase!

Having met Phil to talk to once (but seen him around a few times), imho he’s a nice chap, but regardless of the bhp BossCerb the car is ugly, unlike the other Cerb he had (has) which was kicking around a year or so ago, which looked stunning – something ‘II’

I think my views on this are well known, and I've been trying to resist the temptation, but.......... biggrin

Brummie if your car is faster than Phil's Boss Cerbera, so what !! it isn't a Cerbera. This thread is fk all to do with a TVR Cerbera, it's about tuning/modifying an American GM V8 engine - it just happens to be fitted into a Cerbera Body.
Now lets just hypothesize and imagine that we are 10 years into the future and petrol is £10 a litre, and we are all trying to make our cars more fuel efficient, and someone comes up with some modifications for the AJP V8, that enable the car to do 30mpg. We would all be interested. Then someone comes along and says "I've fitted 1.9 Tdi engine in from a Golf - I'm getting 40mpg now!" So what, anyone can do that, it doesn't make it an economical TVR Cerbera!.
If Phil James could be arsed to do it, he would just write a cheque out for someone to drop in a 1000hp engine into a 'Cerb' then he's got a faster Cerb than you hasnt he?

And before we all get into another 'Ding dong' (which I actually quite enjoy smile). I am not knocking you at all for the work you have done, what you have achieved, or anything - your car sounds pretty amazing.
When one of our poxy little AJP engined Cerb's beats a Porsche or Ferrari - Fantastic - little old British TVR, headed by a chain smoking bloke with an old Labrador, who had a passion about cars, built them in a collection of old sheds in Blackpool, with a budget of £20 for R&D, has trounced the Goliath's from Zuffenhausen.
When your car trounces the Porsche's - Well done GM for making a stonking powerful V8, and well done Brummie for all the work you did in fiting it into a Cerbera donor car. You could have chosen an old Ford Capri, I'm glad you chose the Cerbera - but please stop telling us that your 'Cerbera' is faster and more powerful than our ones - it isn't.

PS - This is a friendly, passionate, conversation between 2 petrol heads over a few pints in a Pub.

FFS Get over it. Brummie doesn't keep going on about how his car is faster than any other Cerb, he just keeps posting his progress on what he is doing with his Cerb. I for one am very interested in his progress and will look forward to the final results. Yes he's lifted a yank engine and plonked it into a Cerb but it's not quite that simple, it takes a lot of time, effort and bespoke modification to install, set-up and then get running properly. Whether it's an AJP or not the car is still a Cerb as that is what it says on the Log Book. People have been rambling about 500bhp AJPs for years......but no-one has ever achieved it. So for me it's clear, if you want 500bhp+ then an AJP isn't going to deliver it, never has, and unless someone supercharges / turbo charges one it never will......and really would anyone nowadays take that route when there are simpler more cost effective options?

People need to remember that the Cerb is getting on a bit now and we know so much more about the car / engine than we never used to, so more and more alternative options such as engine transplants will happen. Some of the *purists* on here won't like it, but my God some of you are almost starting to sound elitest as to what should and shouldn't be done with a Cerb......to most people nowadays it's just a £10k supercar....says it all really.

I love the Cerb to bits, best cars (4.2 and 4.5) I've ever owned and want one again with a passion, but let's not have digs at other owners....friendly pub talk or not.

Finally, Brummies Cerb is faster and is more powerful than any other Cerb on this forum, Bosscerb included. Although your point is more likely to be directed at it not being a *proper* Cerb.......

Jules.

Oh I do apologise Jules - obviously no one is allowed to give alternative views and opinions are they - even when accompanied by an explanation that this is Pub type friendly converation.
You starting a thread directed at me that begins... FFS shows what a short tempered intolerant tt you are. Get your facts right, no where have I criticised the work Brummie has done, in fact just the opposite - I haven't got the skill or knowledge to do it, so all credit to him, and I hope he thrashes everything in sight at FT2.
When the next LS conversion comes along and 2 cars are vying for the honour of the most powerful LS, then it might become interesting. At the moment it's a bit like someone saying "My 2kg lump of metal is heavier than your 1.5kg lump", errrrm.. yes I think your right.
