Hi

I have a set of new 888's but am due to have an airfield day in a week or so. I have taken part in airfield days in other cars and ripped the tyres up in one day. Will the light weight of a Caterham still wear the 888's out on the abrasive surface, would it be better economy to have a set of Yoko A539's on my spare rims and keep the 888's for track only?

Why not buy some second hand slicks? I did a couple of trackdays with my mate (a couple of years ago)who had a 1600 crossflow and a R400 Caterham. IIRC he bought ex- formula renault slicks that had been used once and had plenty of mileage left in them. We went to Elvington and Bruntingthorpe and I think they lasted for both days and some more.

Think they were £15-£20 a corner. 13" IIRC.
