The government are looking to build some Eco Towns, one will be the Oxford side of Junction 9 of the M40. This junction is already notoriously bad for traffic problems and will
only get worse. They’re looking to put a town of 15-20,000 homes in the unspoilt countryside. This will impact traffic on the M40, specifically junctions 9 and 10 and also the A34 and A46..
Junctions 9 and 10 are already notoriously troublesome and will only get worse!

Other negative points include :
1) It is too close to the M.40 and A.34 to make it at all likely that residents could be persuaded to use rail or other public transport.
2) It is on a flood plain!
3) It would involve the destruction of part of a Site of Special Scientific Interest on the nature reserve at Otmoor.
4) It is very close to Bicester which is already targeted for significant housing expansion and the ex USAF base at Heyford which is a genuine brown field site and which is also under consideration for significant housing development.
5) It is too close to the existing towns of Bicester, Kidlington, Woodstock, Witney and Oxford to be considered in any way self-sustaining.
6) Much of Weston on the green itself is within a conservation area.

What a redicleous idea.
Build an eco town that can't sustain itself so people have to travel to work. They will not be big enough to sustain public transport so you can bet a majority of people will commute by car.
They will not do anything for the housing shortage and will be white elephants. The houses will be more expensive than a normal house unless help is given to purchase them and most are earmarked for green field sites!

indeed, although they are going to give the new town it's own railway station..
15,000 properties = at least 30,000 people, probably more..
Watch the M40 slow down considerably - now is your time to stop it from becoming a reality, not once it happens and there's nothing you can do about it.

Indeed, with a regeneration of Bicester, new housing of 1500 houses (South West option) and also possibly Heyford.. 1200 or so... Then they want to put an "eco" town of 15,000 houses the other side of the M40. Sit and watch the M40 around Junctions 9 and 10 literally go into meltdown. They've already stuffed junction 9 (imho) by trimming it down to 2 lanes.. Watch half asleep people casually pull across in to fast moving traffic... then wake up, oops! and don't get me started on junction 4 (High Wycombe/Handy Cross)..
