Just wondering if there is anyone local to me (S75 postcode) that has got a Mk1 MX5 that would let me sit in the drivers seat with the roof up/down to see if I fit ok?

I'm 6"1 with a large frame, big shoulders and big legs. I've never sat in one before so am I going to struggle with getting comfortable? I fit ok in a Mk3, is a Mk1 any bigger/smaller?

If I can sneak a little drive that would be great as well, I'd provide proof of fully comp insurance and would fully expect that the owner would accompany me on a drive somewhere just to get the feel of it.

Can anyone assist?

Can't help with the test drive, but I'm 6 ft 4 and 18 stone and I'm perfectly comfortable in my mark 1.

I'm small myself but my mate who's 6'4 and 18 stone fits in fine..

I have heard you can fix the seats to the floor removing the runners to gain abit of extra head room should you need...

Thanks all, seems like I will probably be ok but if anyone can offer a test drive that would be fab.

Interested in the option above, is this a common mod, and how difficult is it? What's the going rate for a pair of Elise seats?

Well I am tight so I bought a set of VX220 seats funny how the same seats but from a Vauxhall made them cheaperwink

I didn't fit the runners to mine just made some straps and fitted them in the right position for me ,about 3 hrs work in total iirc

I am 6 2", and drive a a mk1 as my everyday car. I am the wrong side of 20 stone, so you will have no problems, I understand that the Mk1 is the larger of the models.
