Targa Window Seals

Hi ,

Hoping someone on here can help me !

I have a 1993 Chimaera with leaky targa window seals ,I want to replace them but I only seem to be able to locate MK2 seals .

Can these be fitted and what other parts do I need ?

If I'm guessing correct the MK1 seal you're talking about is a single one piece seal attached to the roof edge with sikaflex or similar.

The MK2 seal is smaller and attaches to the roof with a spacer and metal channel.

The metal channel screws to the roof edge, holding the spacer in place too.

Thanks for the Help , I've ordered the parts and should have them for the weekend

Could some one help with pictures of how it should look , There's no information in the Bible and I really dont want to start drilling fixing holes in the wrong place !!!

What have you ordered then dorrick - the mk2 kit ?
I have 2 roofs - well, one and two halves, and have both type of seal.

I've ordered the Mk 2 kit as you recommended all 3 parts .

Just wondered if anyone could help with pictures showing how it fits

I have all the bits needed now to replace the seals etc

But could do with some help before I start drilling fixing holes for the seal rail / spacer

Does abyone have pictures of how it should look and if possible any measurements for the correct positioning of the rail .

It looks like the spacers are the same length as the Targa rail , The ones supplied are longer I guess I just need to trim them to the same size .

No worries have had a measure for you hope this makes sense and I hope it is the same or similar on all.
My spacer and rail are 510mm long.
It sits flush at the front edge and the rear is where the FG fold/lip is...which is 30mm from the rear edge where the material folds over.

The seal is a square cut at the front edge but the rear end is cut at an angle. So from the front, the inner edge is 540mm long and the outer edge is 550mm.....The seal is longer than the rail...and the extra sits out the rear.

I've changed the seals and it's passed the watering can test so hopefully everything is ok !
