Hi all,

I'm building a new/retro mini project and I want to fit a MK1 moustache + grille to what is currently a pretty standard '88 Mayfair - anyone know what's involved ?
Apart from a new bonnet, is there any panel work to do, cutting, grinding etc ?

Thanks
Tony

You just need to remove the lip off the front of the bonnet, I think everything else is the same.

Really ?

Are you saying that I can just sort the bonnet and bolt on a MK1 grille ?
Can't be that easy - it's a Mini - nothing is ever that easy !

easy.

1)remove the lip on the bonnet,

2)remove the mk3 grill (ok, there will be a bit of paint and a couple of holes to sort out)

3)fit mk1 grill kit - the mustoches that mini spares sell have even been altered to fit lmoderen front panels better than the original ones, so they fit as well.

4) sit back and look smug at a easy job that looks great!

Yeah it's a simple job..

I 'simply' grabbed some grips from the garage.. Popped the bonnet up, Grip the lip, And rip! i twisted the grips to the inside of the enine bay, to avoid the bonnet being bent at the lip, The spot welds just popped off of mine with some polite persuasion.. I rubbed the front of the bonnet back once the lip was off, Smoothed and filled the holes and unevenness.. Then made my own numberplate sticker to cover! Fitted the Grille.. Looks the BEES
