"needs" or "would like" a speed signal? I put a pioneer AVIC in my last car and pulled 5 miles of loom out from behind the dashboard before splicing the cable into the correct wire in a bunch of 50. I'll be honest - scariest thing I've ever done in a car (and I used to have a Griff 500 as my daily driver). I'll be putting the AVIC into my T350 without the speed cable - my understanding is that it may take a little longer to get sattelite lock but that's it. The purpose of the speed signal is so that in the event of "losing" a GPS signal, it knows where the car is and can interpolate. Not aware that it's ever essential.
Likewise - if you've got a unit with a handbrake cable - you may as well run that to ground as faff around.
Incidentally - if you've been messing around with Sat Nav, you'll have needed to find a decent ground. Where did you do that in the T350?

I have fitted an Avic unit and thought if it was easy enough I'd connect the lot including the speed sensor. The loom of the old Pioneer was the same so I just plugged it in. It was only yesterday, and I havn't tried it on the road yet but it seems to work in the garage. The hardest bit was finding somewhere to put the hide away unit and IPOD ad on!

Yes I have.
If you search for speed pulse or look through the faq at the top of the forum I think I put it in there about 2 years ago.
IIRC and I probably don't, it's pín 9 on the door control unit. I spliced into the passenger side unit as it is near where I fed the other cables through the the head unit.

A couple of bits had to be removed, there is a block on the left of the console at the back which is wedge in place, and the passenger front foot well cover. I took the wires through the hole in the back of the radio cage, over the dash frame bar (behind the carpet) and then on the footwell wall. The three wires fit nicely in the groove on the floor without making a bump in the carpet. The ipod adapter I have left on top of the well cover.
I took the car out last night and the GPS works but with a few odd things -I need to read the manual,

No it drove me nuts in the end!
The unit constantly came up with vibration error and reset the GPS lock which meant unless I was parked never got a lock to use the GPS. I did try the unit in different places and had a company check with Pioneer were the unit should be fitted in the car and their answer was that the problem does happen in these cars and that the unit should be suspended somehow.
I gave up and sold it.
I now have a JVC all in one unit and a separate GPS and both work perfectly.

No, I didn't get any replies on here but it was not realy needed for the AVIC. It was used to make the position more accurate when the GPS signal was lost by tracking the direction and speed. Unfortunately as stated above I never got lock so was not persude.
Have you looked for an Alpine forum for the unit - Pioneer has one for the AVIC

i managed to locate the thread:

so its pin 9 on the door control unit - grey wire
hopefully i wont get any of the issues that you had with the pioneer unit. as the nav unit is seperate on the alpine system.
