I've been trying to convince a mate of mine to get a cerb for a while now, and after a few outings in mine he has started looking for one. Anyhow he has found this one on autotrader and asked me to go look at it with him. Just wondered if anyone knew anything of its history?

Ad would put me off. Why call it a Speed Six headlight conversion. It isnt. Doesnt read like an avid Cerb / TVR fan ad. There are many safer bets advertised on pistonheads.

At a guess, he's interested because that is obscenely cheap!

Its also had the rear lights done, which may suggest the conversion wasn't just because of front accident damage, a +ve sign ?
Worth a look at the price.

"is it coz I is Purple"

I just dont get this - its either the colour or its because its too cheap - and folk are suspicious. At this rate I reckon i'll mothball it and bring it out in a few years - maybe then it'll be classed as a barn find and be worth thousands smile

Aww you feeing a bit unloved weeping

From the perspective of a buyer I think a lot of people find the original light and wheel combo a little dated so tend ot try and get one with a headlight convertion and spiders. I don't think the colour is a big issue as Cerbs carry off any colour well.

Yours is very keenly prices so I am suprised you have had no intrest

thanks Steve, I feel a little better. It amazes me the number of dodgy offers ive had. The last one was "why is it so cheap - will you take £8500" if its so bloody cheap why not pay the asking price !!!

No it hasn't gone yet but please don't insult me with an offer like that. I really am reaching the stage where I would rather store it than give it away. Its had a 5 grand engine rebuild for goodness sake!

Not sure where the 'rebuild mileage' came came from?

There are very few AJP's that have required rebuilds unless cranks have failed (ok...this is an early 4.2 so worth checking if its at risk) or owners have actually chosen a 'refresh'...(do a search...)

If its been looked after, and on face value it looks very clean, take a look...

I think Cerbs not selling is just a sign of the times. With petrol at £6 a gallon, no one wants big engined cars nowadays unless they are obscenly cheap.

Kinda thinkin the same thing. Bad enough facing reality that it has to go, but dragging things out this long is downright torture

There are loads of AJPs being re-built all the time. Just talk to the guys who do the work. People tend not to come on here and brag about engine probs. Plenty of cars are sold on with engine probs pending ie I once bought one !
They will have massively increased odds of pending rebuild as the miles and yrs pile on.
