I'm sure many of you will have seen this short film, but for those that have not, it's well worth the 5 minutes.Especially the 2 minute 20 second mark!
I was suprised how well the gearbox responds when he brakes so hard, then floors it.It never seems to miss.Great car, clip and driving.

Good vid, didn't realise the paddles weren't mounted to the wheel itself.
Thats actually one of the things that really annoys me. One of the main points of paddle shifts is that you can keep your hands on the wheel but then they mount them to the column and not the wheel blunting the object.Surely mount them to the wheel push away to go down pull to go up its not complicated. Love videos of the japanese racing cars their level of commitment is almost suicidal.

The wheel paddles dependant on how much lock you are using are hard to find so you have to grab at the gear lever to be sure to select but in the CS you always know where to find the paddle. 2 weeks ago on the famous N85 the Golf on the hairpins was a bit of a pain at times yes was better than a manual but the CS would have been perfect hope to get it down on that route in September

Absolutely agree.
On tha Gallardo the paddles are on the column and you always know where you are.
I tried an R8 a few weeks ago which had the paddles fixed to the wheel, absolute pain in the arse trying to work out which one was which especialy the 1st to 2nd change as you pull out of a junction.
The theory goes theat you shouldn't be changing gear in the turn anyway, should be done before the turn.

On these paddle shift cars is it pull the paddle towards you to go up and push it to go down, or is it one paddle for up and one paddle for down?

It is one for up and one for down you pull towards the wheel
Up on the right
Down on the left
The new PDK on Porsche has a button more than a paddle on each side of the wheel and either will do up or down
Not sure I would like that system especially if you also have another car with paddles.sstein said:

Depends on the car. Cant see the problem with both paddles doing up and down shifts. Push to change down, pull to change up both paddles not difficult really. The paddle shape may need altering though i would think a bit like a spoon vertically mounted.

I see the argument for having them mounted on the column now though. I have only tried steering mounted ones to date.
