Looking for a cheap(ish) system... any recommendations?

Spec:

1x DVD drive
1 x floppy
Reasonable processor / board / memory
Would prefer separate graphics card and soundcard, but not essential
2x spare drive bays (1x 3.5 and 1x 5.25)
NO monitor / keyboard / mouse etc...

So anyone know of any places to get a cheapish bare bones type system...?

Get a copy of micromart. There are always companys advertising base units at 299 +VAT (Spec is 60gig HD, 2400 AMD processor, Sound Graphics, Keyboard mouse speakers. No software and no Monitor.)

I've always built my own, as many suppliers seem to ship boxes with things I don't want/need, and I quite enjoy speccing my own PC and putting it together

Have a look at somewhere like www.dabs.com where you can get all the bits you need, e.g.,

Case - £35
DVD - £25
Floppy - £8
Motherboard with onboard video and sound - £41
CPU (Athlon XP 1800) - £44
512 MB RAM - £100
HDD - £40

All you need for under £300 inc VAT!

Yeah.. it's just when you spend all bloody day doing it, you really can't be arsed to have a bus-man's holiday... that's all.

bus-mans holiday?

What you could always do is ask if anyone on the board could do it for you...

Morgan Computers seem to do reasonable stuff. I've never bought a PC from them, mind, only odds and ends, but they've always been very good.
