I have now finished the panelling on my Ultima - there were one or two cock-ups along the way, but nothing too drastic - it's the old story - if I had a chance to do certain jobs a second time, I would learn from the mistakes I made.

Maybe it's too easy to get paranoid about doing it all perfectly - anyway, this is how it looks so far :-

Like you, I am going to fit the LS7, so I wondered whether you had any photos or tips regarding the wiring for that engine installation ?

For example, what is the appropriate routing for the red battery cable ...i.e where abouts in the engine bay should it end up for attaching on the LS7 engine ?

Hi Kelvin....

Engine bay routing will be a mix between the factory fuel pump set-up etc on the rear bulkhead and Jeff's engine loom.....I'll take plenty of pics as I go for you to have a look see(hopefully make some real progress on this by mid July)......one difference between the factory loom and Jeff's is that the factory run up the front of the engine whilst Jeff recommends routing via rear of engine thus avoiding pulleys/belts etc.....one other item to consider is the positioning of the ECU.....I've mounted mine quite neatly in the rear of the drivers luggage pod - my only real concern is heat & for this I have a small 12v computer fan line up if needs be....I'll try and post a pic of this in the morning for you....

I am getting to this point also have an LS7 package from Mr Schwartz. I am thinking of putting all this ECU stuff on the rear wall of the cockpit, but looks like the fly-by-wire jobby will have to be lengthened. Also found the pedal to be rather too long, so shortened it. Did you? The only prob I forsee is that now shortened whether the spring pressure may be too high for comfort! - so I will have a severely challenged heavy right foot!

I am in the middle of fabricating an instrument pod (to house the SPA dash + oil and water dig dials) I have invested in. Never done this before and got very high on the filler fumes! Brill!

a few hrs after carefully building up the pod, I took it off the dashboard and it promtly started to distort with the still curing filler! Arggghhh - I should have put a former inside, or left it for a week! You lear by your mistakes!
Anyhow... fixed that by shoving a heatgun at it cooking the filler enough to bend it back into shape! It will be a miracle if this comes out good!

I will try to put up some piccys soon!

Hi keith..

I considered the rear wall also but think you will then need to extend the drive by wire - the other position to consider is as per the factory install in the LH access hatch area....in this position everything fits ok.....I decided against this though for other reasons and the fact that I wanted to keep this area free space....

Yup I to have shortened the standard corvette pedal assembly but I have machined a pedal adaptor that provides some degree of adjustment and leverage angle - the main problem is that you need to ensure that you pivot correctly with the top hinge to stop any 'cam' affect or feel in the pedal as you depress it (hope that makes sense!!).....similar problem when designing rearsets for race bikes.....get it right and things are great - get it wrong and they can be bloody 'orrible.....I will make final adjustmet once the seats have been installed and I can set up just so......posted a poor photo previously but here it is again:

Simon - it looks like you have not used the factory "adaptor rod", and mounted the cut-off Corvette pedal on the horizontal chassis rail above the master cylinders ?

Did you consider that solution ? Just wondered what you saw as the pros and cons ?

They are £110 now, but look fantastic. Great quality. The curve at the bottom fits well around the bottom rail of the dash.

Ref the position of the throttle pedal I actually purchased the factory fitting kit...having looked at it though i seemed like a very complex solution and just wasn't to my liking from an engineering perspective (not that I'm saying there is anything wrong with the factory solution).....fitting the shortened pedal to the bulkhead with the top hinge set-up simplified things and also gave great position for heel & toe....if you decide to go this way I would advise welding on captive studs to hold mounting plate. I had to use angled brackets and drill trough the bulkhead box section....really, really tricky to do....you'll see what I mean if you decide to do the same!

I had 7 different layouts and couldnt decide which one to go for.... so am getting all of them done for USD187. I sent them CAD files and they are custom making them - holes are water jet cut.

Sorry Crafty but that site (the carbon Composite site may have a BAD VIRUS embedded into the website!

My machine was trashed this morning a few seconds after viewing this site!
My anti-virus sware did report the problem immediately....but too late - the machine went into crash mode and it is going to take some time to fix and clean it.

The virus is a MAL/PACKER virus and is particularly nasty! It is embedded in the temporary internet files it downloads onto your computer! I have verified this in the last 10 minutes. I do hope that no one else has suffered my fate, cos its well screwed my day!!
