Thinking of Tuscan Mk1 (15-20k) or T350 (20-25k)

Can anyone recommend the two..
I don't mind paying for servicing and know roughly how much it costs, but how much more reliable are the 350t in relation to the Tuscan mk1. Are we still talking a decent change of a rebuild?
If I should have the unfortunate experience of purchasing and it requiring almost immediate rebuild, how many miles would the rebuild be good for?

Try and get a 2005 T350 onwards. Don't let millage put you off mate. if the car has been cared for and serviced, correct warm up etc you should be fine. I bought my T350c with 7,000 miles, now have 26,000 and she still pulls like a train. It's the other little Tiv niggles that you have to rectify every now and again.
When buying if the owner want,s to impress you with 0-60 times before engine has reached correct temp. walk away!

From late 2004 its commonly beleived that TVR 'sorted' the most common problems with the Six Speed engine. So any 2005 car should run to decent mileage (who knows, but there are plenty of Sagaris' and T350's on 40k+)
Most rebuild companies offer a warranty, but I would expect to get the same (aka ~40k miles from a rebuild)

I had a Mk1 Tuscan for 1 year prior to my current T350c, which is for sale!!!!
The Mk1 Tuscan i absolutely loved...The noise, style, roof off, performance and, well everything really. It was my introduction into TVR ownership. I went into it like yourself, with eyes as wide open as they could be. It had a rebuild, full TVR dealer service history. Nearly all of it's history was known to the dealer i bought it off and the dealer was / is very reputable and also supplied it with a warranty.
The only problem i had was the slave cylinder on the clutch went, which was repaired under the warranty.
I sold it because it needed a service, i wanted a warranty with it. I couldn't get the warranty with the wear & tear package because it was older than 5 years. So, when i weighed everything up i realized that i could trade it in for something newer, by the time i bought everything and i would have a wear & tear warranty. Yes, i did add some more to it, but i loved the shape of the T350 and i'd had the roof off with the Tuscan but it didn't bother me too much and i enjoyed less wind noise, hence the c instead of the t.
I have had it 6 months with no problems but work related issues dictates that i realistically need to sell the T350c but i definitely will be buying another in 3 or 4 years time.
Sorry, i can't answer the question of how long because i don't know. But just thought i'd give you the benefit of my experience.
I agree with a previous post and you'll find most owners think the same, that if they've been warmed up correctly and looked after with oil, water etc... and basically treated with respect for what they are then there should be few problems. Obviously they will occassionally give you grief with sensors failing and the odd rattle, squeek and cough of some description. But all in all they are worth every penny!!! My better half always says that there is nothing that puts a smile on my face like either of the TVR's i own / owned!!
If there's anything i can maybe help you with please reply and i'll try my best. There will no doubt be others along shortly with more invaluable information.
You should go to your local meet and ask all the helpfull people who turn up as many questions as you can think of.

I would agree. The looks are very outlandish!!!
The performance is different.
Tuscan mk1 i would describe as quite brutal...if not sometimes frightening particularly low down in the rev range.
T350 is much more driveable, as long as the revs stay above 3 or 4 k then the performance is very similar. But low down in the rev range is very easily manageable!!!

This is the one that caught my eye...unfortunately I'm only 1 month into my new job so have to wait until the probation period is passed. Still, sometimes it's worth doing as much research as possible, particulalry when you're talking Tivs.

Hi don't really know if I can add much but I had a MK1 Tuscan bought with a re-build. I only had it 18 months 2001 model due to Speeding tickets but it was awesome!!
No issues apart from a flat battery easilly fixed. I covered about 10,000 miles and as has been said warm it up properly and they seem to last okay.
I will definatley buy another one once I lose a few points (11)
