If you have any advice on this it would be great....

Tuning my bass drum....

Im using an Evans EQ2 Head (the kit came with a yamaha remo, apparently it an Ambassador?). I've currently got a pillow in there to take some of the ring out but i am toying with the idea of putting a mic hole in as well (as im recording in a few weeks). what do you think? i admit normally i just get rid of the front head and put the mic right up against the head on the inside.

My batter head is quite tight so i can have quite a fast pedal and the front head is only tight enough to get rid of the ripples. So it doesn't sound too bad, i just want to get rid of all the sustain that's in it. i'm thinking of changing it to a EMAD single ply.

Saying that i want to get rid of all the sustain in all of my drums but the toms i'll just do dampening rings and moongel... Would this work on 16" & 18" floor toms?
How would you tune the bottom heads.

My toms are 12"x9", 16"x16" and 18"x16" oh, and my bass is 22"x17"

Any advice would be great. Many Thanks.

Tim.
