Just goes to show it's a small world. I was probably stood right by you when the pics of the TVRs were taken on the start line. I'd gone for the day to support the red griff and generally enjoy the event.
So what you might ask?
It was me that overtook you in the Kawasaki green Caterham at Combe, half way through your vid
.
It was great to see you enjoying yourself and as it was your first time out on track I reckon you were going very well. I'd noted the reluctance
to let an ankle biter past and was thinking of adopting plan B - drop back, accelerate earlier out of the corner into the gap and come out faster. Great to see your manners on track though in letting me past through Folly, much appreciated
.
A few numbers to help understand the difference between the two cars:
5ltr Griff 320bhp, 1060kg, 302 bhp/ton, 4.1 sec to 60
Caterham SLR 190bhp, 470kg, 404 bhp/ton, 4.0 sec to 60.
So about the same acceleration down the straight hence needing the faster exit.
Advantages to the Caterham: less than half the weight so brake later, less weight to turn through the corners, stiffer setup so car settles earlier and stays flatter hence tyres in better contact and probably also grippier
.
Seems like you're itching to do some more so I reckon if you liked the Action Day then you'll love a normal trackday. There's more time to enjoy it, everything seems less rushed and the briefing is more thorough with some sensible rules thrown in designed to help everybody to enjoy their day. I would recommend Castle Combe again or Motorsport Events in our region. Alternatively, not sure if there's room left but if you have a look on the C3C forum you posted on yesterday you'll find a thread on Combe on Fri August 8th?

Hi Martin, it's a very small world. I thoroughly enjoyed Coombe, to the point where I'm thinking of selling the Griff & getting something like this...
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/582717.htm
Something more track focused.
I felt the Griff was way too slow in the corners for me but I don't want to lose the V8 either.
As far as holding up the 'ankle biters', I was getting in to it so much I don't think I payed enough attention to what was behind me,
to the point where the second Caterham that I left past must have been behind me for longer than I thought as the passenger was clapping his hands as they past,
...
...
. If you know him please extend my apologies.
Catch you soon.

great vid pwd95
I wouldn't be so quick to give up the Griff just yet, you have plenty of pace to be extracted from it yet.
My Griff was doing 1:20's at Combe last month which is quick enough to keep most Lotus and Porsche' honest.
My next TD at Combe will be with an intercooled SC fitted. Come on down and I'll take you out for a spin

May not get too many takers with the second pic in your profile

Seriously though, just poking fun, hope it was repairable or at least insured.
It was my first love, lost it on a wet road one night

What it did teach me was that I was NOT a driving god, and neither me nor the car were indestructable. With its replacement I went on driving courses and airfield trackdays to learn how to drive these cars properly, and overhauled the suspension and brakes straight away instead of leaving it for a winter project. Then I got bitten by the TD bug

Very nice stable you have there Martin

Between you, 2Munkys, Jeffsy etc. I was starting to feel a little inadequate
So I have going full hog and we are expecting around 400-425 bhp
now you guys are going to have to play catch up again
.Oh, and Colin Harvey should have his monster SC Griff on their Display stand for the Growl - He's expecting 500 bhp from his very special build
