After finally getting round to carrying out a few odd jobs on the track car - h reg 1.6 twin cam Honda Civic. I was suprised to find that after one track day at Cadwell Park the ebc yelow stuff brake pads friction material had not worn out but crumbled away as soon as it was touched. The car has a vti brake set up with ebc grooved discs which still look fine. I'm guessin this is because of the heat generated but I thought the yellow stuff pads were supposed to take all that. Any ideas??

Grooved discs are known for eating pads a bit.

A mate uses EBC Yellows on his Mk2 Golf and is more than pleased with them to be honest.

Yes these are good. Work fine from cold on the road and unkillable (in my admittedly slow car) on track!

The ds2500 were awfull for me on my evo.Stuck to my discs and left deposits.

I upgraded to carbotech xp8 and the ds2500 arent in the same league.

Guess it depends on the car tho really,as im running heavy quickish car.

Also depends on your braking style.

Indeed, I would suggest going back to plain discs tbh, the car isn't heavy so shouldn't need huge work to get working nicely on track.

I've got DS2500 on my ITR and have done several trackdays on it, they do leave pad material on the discs after a while but it wears off with normal road use, eventually. Pagids are the daddies but you're paying for that of course.

My advice, get some Mintex or EBC blanks on there, and some new pads of your choice, bed them in properly and see how you get on.

All imho naturally.

Change your brake fluid for something that is more suited to track work aswell if you havent done so already. I use Millers Dot 4 fluid, Mintex 1144s and solid discs and am more than happy with braking performance on track.

I help out Bookatrack from time to time and am on track on average twice a month.
DS2500 didn't last me a session on my MK1 MR2 before being cooked and offering nothing but fade. I was less than impressed.
The XP8's are highly rated amongst MR2 trackdayers and racers, but it hurts the pocket at £140.00/axle yikes

I now run EBC Yellowstuff (around £50/axle) and am extrememly happy with them - they can't be compared to lesser EBC pads. I have set fire to Greenstuff within 10 minutes on track and have cooked Redstuff by the end of a day.

Did you bed the DS2500 pads in properly before abusing them on track? I went out of my way to make sure I bedded mine in before taking them on track, with two decent heat cycles, and they were fine for three trackdays before leaving too much pad material on the discs, which wore off eventually as I said earlier.

We run 2 Peugeot 205's on DS2500's. One on full Michelin Slicks (S9Bs) and the other on Toyo R888's. Only issue we've had is that we warp the disks when running full slicks, but that's an issue with the cheap disks we run rather than the pads.

One issue we have seen is that after a number of trackdays (Croft) the DS2500's look like charcoal, and have started to break up around the edges. Might be a case that we need to run pads more suited to extream heat on slicks. Performance of the pads haven't degraded despite the fact the look dreadful.

I run EBC Yellows with Plain disks on a MK2 Golf & 888`s, they take a load of stick. No problems at all, I`d put some plain disks on, you don`t need grooved.

DS 2500,s are cr-p-------------- For £80 a set you would think that they could be machined to fit the calipers reasonably--more suited for tractors-they rattle and cause vibro on steering and clicking noise.

EPC Red Stuff are a great choice for Road/Track use, BUT!!! if you drive on a public trackday and stand on the brakes cos youre going too fast for your brain--you can expect lots of £££££££££££££££££ to replace each time.

I used pagid blues on my e46 M3 which was running 370bhp and never had any issues ( bar the odd squeek when cold)

I too run pagid blues on my elise, with the ebc 'turbogroove' discs and theyve taken anything I can throw at them, although I'm not a driving god by any stretch of the imagination. Oh yeah, and mine do squeek too when cold at low speeds which can be a bit annoying (and thats coming from an elise driver), but well worth it when you using them properly!

same for me the ds2500 were smeary rubbish that kill the disks in a day. I went for XP10s which were much better but still only lasted a day before they were down to the metal

I used to have a CRX VT of similar vintage.

I used EBC blank disks, Mintex 1155 pads and Castrol SRF fluid.

You could happily do 30 minutes on, 10 minutes off on open pit days without any fade issues at all.
