Has anybody done any performance tests with and without the number plate removed ? What I am wondering is if the standard number plate restricts induction when “progressing” and if so does removing it increase performance by an amount more than the additional drag caused by the big hole on the nose. It did also occur to me that perhaps there would be a change to high speed handling with the plate removed. Comments anybody ?

Steve, I remove the number plate on every track day as its attached with a big thick strip of velcro. Not measured the temp exactly but I think it really helps.

Around a fast cicuit like Silverstone GP the temp never went above 90deg which is standard running temp for my Griff 500.

Not really thinking about temperature, rather any improvement in power by the forced induction effect at the air filter. Plainly the front end would be a lot less slippery so would the increased power (if any) be more than the extra drag ?

Forced induction benefits would req a sealed airbox........

Painting the car blue lowers the temperature by about 15 degrees and gives you another 30 leptons top speed!wink

Mines held on velcro too......

but on precat its not for induction benifits as its solid GRP there.....

its for easy removal for Scamera stealth mode hehe

I was thinking of a duct the entire width of the opening feeding into the air filter.

Mine certainly felt quicker without a front plate. Temp wise no plate is -10 degrees and a small plate is -5 degrees. It's gotta help even if it's just cooling the incoming air and increasing it's density.
