Tuscan S 2002 - Reasonable Price or not?

Have been looking fro a TVR for ages and choping in a Boxster... after spending time with one at Le Mans decided on a Tuscan S. After a lot of searching have been offered a 52 plate, mystic black, anthracite full hide interior for a little under 24K. This will include 12 months warranty. The car is currently in a main dealer and the engine is having a rebuild then is available to buy. This to me seems reasonable and there seema to be a deal to be done with my Porsche which takes soem of the pain away...

Anyway, would welcome any comments, encouraging or discouraging. Cheers.

I think you'll find Mr Cranky that the price is ok provided that any warranty you receive from the dealer includes for potential for full engine rebuild in the event of failure during the warranty period. Often the warranty would exclude any 'wear and tear' items that commonly fail with the Speed 6 engine potentially leaving you with a fair chunk of residual liability!!! Choose wisely and above all enjoy choosing!

Seems expensive.....good non-S 2001-2002 4.0 cars are selling at £15k and below. £9k premium for an S seems very excessive.

I looked for a Tuscan S before choosing a T350. The S certainly commands a premium. The best price/condition/mileage combo I could find was circa £21k for a private deal. The extra for dealer margin, warranty and low mileage probably accounts for the difference. However, the 'extra' performance you get from an S compared to a 4.0 is probably negligible in a 'real world' sense but as a long term bet the rarity of the ‘S’ may help to keep the value up.

Friend of mine sold his absolutely mint 2001 S (with recent rebuild to 05 spec) for 18k last year. 24k seems too high!

I could have bought an absolutely mint 2001 Tuscan S with everything done to it for £19K private. 2 dealers told me I would not have found a better one.
