Noisy E39 Bmw 530d Powersteering pump/reservoir

Recently had a leak in one of the pipes that carry powersteering/gearbox fluid from the cooler at the front of the car by the rad which has been fixed and the fluid level has been topped up.

although now theres a lot of noise come from where you would top up the ATF after start up, theres fluid there i can see it when i take the cap off, the noise gets less and less as you drive it, any ideas as i get the feeling its not good :-(
