I have noticed that I don't seem to get any water dripping from the air con condenser.

No puddle under the car!

Is this correct? Should there be a drain pipe somewhere? Is it blocked?

Also, I have found whatI think is the air con thermostat, but it has no dial!
Which way do I turn it to reduce the setting and get more cold air?

Steve

PS - the guy who re-filled it said it should be 900 grams, but I have found a sticker on the inner cowl that states 1kg or 1000grams!! car is Jan 1998 4.5.

You don't want water dripping from the condenser, that would not be good! (thats the hot coil at the front)
You mean evaporator (the cold coil inside the car).

Are you getting wet carpets in the footwells?, the water has to go somewhere.

How much condensation an a/c system creates, depends on a few things; the humidity of the air passing through the coil and the length of time it has been running for during that journey. The drains often discharge onto hot parts, such as the exhaust, so evaporates without trace. Also if your system is under-charged it is less likely to collect moisture. (you mention that it was recharged, but was the leak found?).

Cerberas are fitted with 'sight glasses' on the liquid reciever (in the o/s wheel well I think), so you can check the gas charge yourself. Run the a/c on full and check the condition of the liquid refrigerant passing through the 'sight-glass' (like a small window!), it should be perfectly clear of any bubbles if properly charged.wink

The amount of gas should be 700-800 gms. Some people disagree with that, but I'm going from my experiences with 2 Cerbs, tried 900-1000gms in both, and and it is better with 700-800gms.
The thermostat dial is clockwise for colder (I think) but doesnt want to go to cold or the whole system freezes up solid. Decrease the temp so the reading at the Drivers centre outlet goes down to 2-3 degrees C - it will fluctuate back to about 8 as it cycles through on-off.

Yes should have said evaporator. Old age!

All my other cars have left a puddle under the car if its left on.

Carpets not wet, but not too much cooling on way bck from Le Mans to be honest.
Just a slightly cooler outlet temp from the vents. It was noticable though.
But this had a bit of a "musty" smell to it.

I'll have a look for that sight glass!

When he topped it up, the outlet from the pump froze!
Car not used much by previous owner, so suspect its just lack of use that has drained it.

Cheers lads!
