Having had the Chimaera now for nearly a year, and waiting for the letter to come through asking for money again, I thought I'd check through a few companies for some quotes.

Last year footman james was my choice, and they said that as my car was a 95 model, its not 15 years old and therefore won't be cheap. £360 was the quote for this year, and I've got the mondeo with them as well.
now I always thought footman james was a specialist car insurer, but due to checking on here before paying out I looked for some advice. Someone suggested Hagerty Clssics, and they came back with a quote of £220.19p and I think thats amazing!
bear in mind I'm 52, no claims in tact, live in Cambridge, 3000 miles policy,

I thinks this is great value! I told them i'd stick a note on here for you all to see.
You may already be using them.

Worth remembering though that Hagerty will only insure as a 2nd car with a max of 5000 miles pa (IIRC) so not suitable for everyone.
A-plan have consistently been best for me.

Unlimited miles, kept on driveway, wife can drive (actually she can't but she could if she could - if you follow), full ncb, 2 other cars - £371 from Mannings.

I need the unlimited miles bit as I'm averaging around 12k pa in the Chim.

Just got the best quote i've ever had, after owning 5 different TVR's over a number of years, yet this one is more powerfull, and insured for more in value than any of my previous cars(also its an agreed value policy). This was with Hagerty, who have to be by far the nicest and most professional i've delt with so far. They also quoted me for 6k miles per year, not just 5k.
I have used Mannings in the past, but would never use again.
You can contact Hagerty through a nice chap on here who posts as moosetvr(Darren Saunders). No connection to me whatsoever,by the way.

Well following on from this thread I gave Hagerty a ring to quote me on my first chim (picking it up next week and rather excited about it ), and was amazed just over £300 fully comp, agreed value, 5000 miles, which is a lot less than other quotes and greenlight who I have the ST insured with wouldn’t even touch it.

I'm with Mannings, '96 4.0HC Chimaera, Track Day cover and international breakdown, full legal assistance, £310, 6000mpa. Which I think was fairly good. Second year I've been with them and did check others but not many offer the track cover. (Bear in mind that standard excess goes up from £200 to £1K for track day cover). No compaints so far.
