Morning Gents,

Simple question. I have pretty much trashed the rears after doing Lydden last weekend and I have a new set of rears that came with the car. Any recommendations for who can fit these with the intention to avoid any cowboys who are likely to scratch or damage the wheel as I have had this happen to me before. I live in Holland Park.

Cheers!

Well done that man! Does it meet your expectations?

Can't help you with the tyre man though.

I'll recommend Munster Tyres in Fulham, its where I take my 928 to be done and my old man takes his Ferrari wheels to be swapped.

They're always visibly careful and have never scratched one of our wheels in 5 or 6 years of using them. They've also been very good to us on pricing, but my Porsche mechanic knows them well, so that may have contributed.

Why thank you! ha! I did quite well actually, the day started wet, I am sure my mum would have passed me in the wet but in the dry I really got into it and stepped the pace up. Had a short bit of tuition which made things even better! I love it!

Excellent! Many thanks and I had forgot about them, they had been recommended to me before so I will pop down. Stupid question but will they be ok with the jacking points, in the sense that I assume they are not obvious. I'll have to plan my route down there as I am struggling to get over some speed humps :-(

I use OPC for my 911 even though they are expensive I know they will fix the wheels if they damage them!

I'm sure they will be fine, but if you're worried just politely ask them if they've done one before or just point out where they are for them, I'm sure they wont be offended!

I'm pretty sure they use decent jacks with rubber pads as well.

Oh and avoiding speed bumps, the best way from Holland Park avoiding bumps is probably Holland Road, then Right at Lillie Road, past the back of Earl's court, straight over the double mini-roundabouts and on down to the roundabout on the corner where Munster is!

Just make sure you don't end up coming from the other side, the bumps are vicious around there! It also requires a fair bit of bullying to make any progress through all the parked cars. Easy in a battered 928 GTS with a driver who's irate at just having to stick 80 quid in the tank, not so easy in a Seven!!

Thanks OJ....all sorted new rears on! Don't suppose anyone knows where I can buy a single spare wheel nut....I seemed to have lost one!

Do Caterham only sell sets? I'd give their parts department a ring, I wouldn't mess about with non standard wheelnuts. Make sure you tell them the age of the car (metric/non metric) there have been some 'issues' with wheelnuts being the wrong length. Particularly with some racers who have had new uprights and tried to use their old wheelnuts! May be best to get a set of open ended jobs anyway
