Advice for a Novice Please

Hi
I used to own a 4.2 Cerbera about 6 years and am looking for another TVR, but since I last owned mine there seems to be a lot of changes with TVR. So i'm here looking for soem advise;
Is TVR still producing cars? If so who are the main dealers? I bought my old one from Christopher Neal in Northwich but they don't appear to be dealers anymore.
I am looking for another 4.2 Cerbera or possibly 4.5, but am being moved towards the Tuscan as its a great looking car. They all seem to be noted as Speed 6 models and I am sure that when I bought my last 4.2 model I was told the Speed 6 engines weren't as good as they proper TVR 4.2 or 4.5's
Any quick advice would be good

Firstly, TVR as we knew it disappeared about 18 months ago. There have been numerous reports that it will resurface, but as yet, nothing. Still we live in hope!
Secondly, after production of the Cerbera ceased, all the TVR model range were powered by variations of the Speed 6 engine. If you have a look at the Speed 6 section of PH you will get plenty of information and a lot to think about. Basically, there were some issues with early engines, but from late 2004/early 2005 these issues were supposed to have been sorted, so engine longevity is allegedly better. Don't forget, it won't make any difference what year the engine was made if it has been ragged, mistreated or not serviced properly, it will break.
Thirdly, quite a few of the established TVR main dealers are no more. Some have gone bust but a few have had to diversify into other marques with TVR's demise.
Finally, I've got a T350C with the 3.6l variant of the Speed 6 engine and I love it. I bought it with my eyes open, with money set aside to repair any problems that may arise. I have it serviced at a reputable independent TVR specialist and I am well pleased, with both the work and the price. I understand where you are coming from regarding engine reliability, but don't discount the Speed 6 engined cars, a good one will give you as much of a thrill as a V8 Cerbera, but imho, will be a bit more "civilised" around town!
Good luck in your search

Thanks Mr Chips
Reading more information on here I think I am still leaning towards a Cerbera 4.2 or 4.5, but the prices are so varied. There one low mileage for less than £12K but the colour option is awful and after loosing £8K on my last one in 8 months i am being a little more cautious. There are also other for less than £10K so prices are varied to say the least.
Apart from the worn drivers seat and wet footwells, are there any other known problems I should be aware of or look out for?
Thanks again

Your best bet is to see who on the Cerbera forum is selling a known decent car with any issues sorted out.Reading more information on here I think I am still leaning towards a Cerbera 4.2 or 4.5, but the prices are so varied.
