Oh, you poor precious things. So what if they signed him? TV companies aren't broadcasting F1 for the benefit of a bunch of knowitalls from some "motoring" website.
The majority of the viewing population seem to be quite happy with James Allens commentries.
The guy had the impossible job of following Murray Walker. Even with Murray there was always a minority of smartarses trying to knock him down. Allen was given the job of attempting to continue that style of commentry.
Yeah, sometimes he does say some stoopid things. You want to try commentating on one of the fastest moving sports in the world surrounded by technically knowledgable experts?
Give the guy a break FFS. ITV wanted another "Murray" , Allen does a pretty decent job, all things considered. He's tried to maintain the Murray frantic excitment which seems to be our reference for the sport.
Of course, everyone thinks that they're an expert. Maybe some of you are, but TV viewers don't need that depth. They want a shouty, excitable, reasonably informed voice.
Tech stuff is why Brundle / Blundell are there. Allen's for the licence payers.

king jealous. I've never understood why he gets such a bashing........I actually quite like the way he builds the atmosphere and creates suspense, Brundle would be hopeless at that, each of them has their role as mentioned
the one I don't get is Blundell TBH, just what is he doing there?
