If you're asking the question to 42 then it's 'what is life the universe and everything', if you're asking what was Gods final message to his creation then it's 'we apologise for the inconvenience'
deep thought was built to work out the answer to life the universe and everything and earth was built to work out the answer although the two are mutially impossible and if you know one you cannot know the other without cancelling each other out, they say this has happened already.

the crinklly bits? not sure what you mean.
if you mean who ordered the destruction of Earth then it was Gag Halfrunt.

Yes this is the ulitmate question that Earth was bulit to discover after Deepthought suggested that the orignial question was not specific enough and it wasn't good enough to work it out. The pan galactic super beings in charge of everything were mice, two of which were Trillian's pets. Unfortuneatly Earth was destroyed by the Vogens before finishing its calculations and Arthur and Trillian were the only survivors. Arthur finally worked out the question after a suggestion by Marvin to use a scrabble set to extract it from his brainwave pattern, Authur was after all part of the Earth computer. They didn't have a scrabble set and had to build one,, badly.

When the gang were asking the builders of Earth which bits they were responsible for Slartibartfast replied he was enjoyed doing the crinkly bits and Fjords .. he won an award for them.

Great stuff...... I heard thre radio series first, it was the best version, and I couldn't stop laughing.
