Hi all

When laying down some rubber lines, am i right that I should be leaving a nice parralel pair?

If I'm only leaving the one is this the wrong amount of oil and inhibitor in the diff?

If so is this something I can correct myself on a Sunday afternoon? (I am hand with the odd spanner)
Is there a "recognised" amount that should be put in from dry etc?

Cheers Guys.

Yes, you should be laying 2 lines.

You need an oil change and the correct amount of modifier. Varies from diff to diff though. We can send you what you need. If you can turn spanners, you can do it.

Thanks. Didn't realise it was on the website Andys got it all under control!

You will need 2 litres of oil and one pot of modifier unless you have a harrop diff cover.

How much would you charge to do it Roger? I wouldn't mind replacing mine but hate getting my hands dirty!

1/2-3/4 hours labour, maybe a bit more. Depends if we get the modifier level right first time. Every diff is different so sometimes they need a bit more to get right which may involve a couple more trips onto the ramp after the test drive to ensure it doesn't chatter.

Labours £49.95 p/h + VAT

Hi Roger just a quick one whilst you are on. Dont get clunking when driving but occasionally there is some drive train clunks typically whilst turning at very low speed (like in a car park)

Speaking to alan he said his did that too, presume its a standard feature? Never does it under load or when normal driving and is indipendant of temp too and is very rare

It may be just be lash in the drivetrain. They are not that refined at the best of times. Without hearing it i couldn't really say. Might just need a dab more modifier but if its only very occasional, you have got it "in the zone" where it will lock up best.

thought so, which may be why Vauxhall "accidentally" got the lubricant wrong from factory...

I am also not convinced my oil was replaced properly when I had a new diff fitted despite it costing a not insignificant amount for the oil.
