I wonder if they'll pit him next to Tommi...
I hope they do, we need a bit of rivalry, pah to santitised we all love each other and are best mates. I remember the days of Sylvia Hauser v Richard Worslek etc etc, bring it on!Spencer

With Monica Oberg adding her name to the TF list, there are now 14 cars entered in TF at Mantorp.
Only one less TF than the NHRA Mile High Nationals at Denver this weekend.

....Ideally this would be run as a 16 car field, but the rules seem to have changed on that, and you now need to have 19 cars in order to run a 16 car field.
Hmmm. For saying how closely the FIA tries to track NHRA regulations (but not always - eg: the 90/85% rule) here's one place the rules are very different. If you are running an NHRA track (its the same with the IHRA) and you have 13 cars, you can run a 16 car field. In practice, they all do. In Europe, however, you need 19 cars before you can run a 16 car field. Why the difference, I wonder. I know Tet's post begs the same question, but I'm just curious. At least all qualifying sessions will be interesting, especially the last one. It wouldn't be like that if all 14 cars were guaranteed a place in eliminations. The other thing to consider is the turn round time; whilst over here we can manage three runs I doubt very much if the teams could manage four... We would then end up with a situation like they had in TMD at Alastaro where after the first round some teams do not make it to the line for the next round.

Wow 14 fuellers is very impressive, is that a record for a European field?
Yes. Pity about the 1000 feet thing in one way, because I'd guess that that has robbed Mantorp of the first-ever four-second bump spot.topnitro said:

I don't know. What's surprising is that our rules allowed 13 or more cars to be run as a 16 car field until late last year, when the change to 19 cars was introduced. It seems a strange decision to me, because even with 13 or more cars, the promoter could still have opted to run an 8 car field if, for example, the prize money payouts might make running a 16 car field not financially viable, or if they simply were worried about having enough track time. But now, by my reading of the rules, they can't run a 16 car field even if they wanted to. I can't see how that's beneficial to the sport.NitroWars said:

For precisely that reason, it would probably be run as 2 qualifiers on the first day, 2 qualifiers and first round on the second day, and then the other 3 rounds of eliminations on the final day, so a maximum of 3 runs per day, which pretty much all of the European teams should be able to manage. You only have to stand back and look sideways to realise that there are politics and money involved. Its not long ago that one of the current tracks on the tour wasn't happy that they were able to fund an 8 car field in TF due to the extra round of "expenses" that would need to be paid. Now add the round money again x16 and you'll maybe see why maybe it is written in as a rule, which may or may not stop the teams exerting pressure on some or all of the tracks/promoters.
