Good morning people in the world of Ultima heaven.

I would just like to introduce myself and get to know you all. My name is Brad I live just outside Reading, I have always been a total petrol head, since I was a small boy I have enjoyed playing with cars and generally messing around. I have had a few cars in my time so far, starting off with total heaps of rubbish working up through the ranks. I have had a couple of MK4 Supra’s one of which was producing 420bhp (but the car does weigh about the same as a semi detached house) I have also had Evo’s, Impreza’s and an Astra GTE. I was never one for big steros or stupid go faster body kits, I just wanted them to go faster.

I was convinced by my girlfriend that cars are a waste of money and that I need to settle down, so I bought a sensible car. I have never been so utterly miserable in my entire life, I miss the late night tinkering and Sunday morning car cleaning sessions and the all-round joy of having a performance car.

I have been looking at getting a kit car for about the last 9 months or so, I have had quite a lot of experience working on Westfield’s but after looking into a few options I have decided I wanted something different.

Then I found CJ’s GTR guide(TOP site by the way) and that started me off! Like a snowball coming down a mountain I have been engrossed with everything Ultima and have decided I need to have one. I have read just about every Ultima build diary I can find and spent hours going through forums reading about the things that go with them. I am going up to the factory open day in Aug to have my first real look at one, and depending on few things possibly ordering kit stages 1-9.

I’m not on here looking to pester people but to make a few friends who have the same sort of interests as me, I’m not going to ask dumb questions without checking through the forum to see if it has already been answered.

I was a little amused about the “15” sub in an Ultima conversation” and I have to ask why would you do such a thing?? maybe the factory should make you sign a contract when you buy one.

Anyway that’s enough for now, I look forward to chatting with you all

Brad

Morning Brad, welcome to the madhouse.
Sounds like you no longer need convincing but you should arrange a test fright with Ted. I'm not sure if you will be able to go out on open day as they are quite busy so may be worth giving them a call.

Don't forget, the only stupid question is the one you don't ask so don't worry about asking. We may have covered it before but all appreciate how much there is to learn and how costly drilling a hole in the wrong place can be.

Enjoy

Yo Brad, if you haven't had a run out in one by the time you get to the FOD, then I will oblige, if you can stand the colour, oh and welcome to the assylum.

Hi Brad and welcome smile

I replied to your email (sorry for delay, have been on holiday). I'm between Reading and Henley so if you ever need a hand in person, just drop me a line.

PS. Glad you liked the sites (I'm 'CJ' too by the way) smile

Good afternoon all and thank you for the warm welcome.
I dont think I have ever been offered so much help through a forum before, it really is a good start to my little project. I would love to get to meet a few of you some time, do you meet up as a local group at all?

A 'Local group' meeting place would be hard to find as we have forum members from all over the world.
The next place you could meet UK members is Kimbolton Castle on July 29th or the Factory open day on August 3rd.

If I were you mate I'd keep your hands 'very clean' in anticipation of signing the initial order form! (regularly occurs quite shortly after the factory test run).
Kit due in less than four weeks now, unfortunately am a considerable distance from yourself.
Cheers and good luck.
