David,

Fitted one of your Modwise 'hot start' kits over a year ago.

Car cut out twice today for no reason, also would'nt turn over starter motor a couple of times (new battery 4 wks ago).
Checked the spagetti in the passenger footwell to find the in-line fuse on the hot start wiring had blown (the 20A one).

Is there any particular reason why this fuse could have blown..?
This fuse is pre relay is it not..?
I replaced fuse and starter turns over fine again..!

Also swapped the two relays that run the fuel pump etc and cured the cutting out, replaced iffy relay for new I had spare. (fingers crossed.

Cheers.

Not sure if its the same problem but... I had a new starter fitted about 1 year and 3000 miles back and also the hot start kit. A few weeks back the same 20A fuse started blowing along with the starter not turning sometimes. Finally worked out that if I turned the key and the starter didnt immediately turn and I held the key for about 2 seconds in the start position the fuse would blow. Short term solution was to turn off as soon as I realised the starter wasnt going to turn then try again a few times. Eventually it would turn. I also bought a big pack of fuses.

Turned out to be a faulty starter motor, replaced under warranty and now its all fine again.

The fuse will be blowing for a good reason, maybe the same as mine...

Hopefully will make the Brackley Carnival next year.

Same happened to me. Modwise hot start fuse kept blowing. I already had starting problems which the hot start kit didn't fix and so a new starter motor was fitted and now all is OK.

stealth post turned on! Very rare for the fuse to blow, has to be a short as its a 12-15a supply.
