Mine were:

The Raleigh Boxer, with pedal brake.

The Raleigh Burner (the one with the gold plastic coating over the chromed frame - the BMX to have where I lived.

The Raleigh Record Sprint - Crap bike, but what a colour scheme.

The Pace MTB with the square ally tubing RC something circa early 90s. I used to stand and stare at it in my LBS, and just drool like a Labrador forced to wait for a biscuit.

I used to have a Raleigh Extreme which was purple. It was most definitely the coolest bike on the block until Martin Bickley got a Raleigh EVEN MORE Extreme in green! grrrrrr hehe

Edited to add I found this version of the extreme! Not the one I or my mate had but more or less the same bike!!!

For me it was the Raleigh Grifter.
As my tastes developed it became a Skyway that I lusted after.I've recently seen one on ebay for £600!

I hated bikes as a kid. I didnt enjoy riding them and found the whole subject boring, I just wanted to skate.

I broke nearly every bone skating (including my back) so I had to give it up.

About 3-4 years ago a friend who has a bike shop sold me a second hand bike for a song and it has come on from there...

yes Grifter first, then a chopper. I wanted one of those centre-mounted gear levers so much it hurt.

Me too.

Also the blue-green fade Fat Chance Yo Eddy from the same era. I bought that one in the end (that's what student loans are intended for, yes?).

During my road bike days I lusted after a Raleigh Banana hehe

Then when I got into mountain bikes it was a titanium orange.

The team banana - good choice. Who was the Brit who rode for them?

GT Zaskar, and also that square tubed Pace thing. They were the first proper MTB's in my eyes.

I'd love an old Zaskar in retro spec just to hang on the wall smile

In the BMX era, a Haro Master with white skyways, or possibly a Shyway TA or a Quadrangle.

Early racer days - a Raleigh Record sprint which I managed to get in the end, and have recently resurrected and had it running as a fixie

MTB's - GT Zaskar or a Rockhopper.

I disappeared off to ebay after nominating the Zaskar, and there is a raw aluminium frame polished on there. I'd like it just to hang on the wall in the living room cloud9

Top shout. First thing that came to my mind aswell. Although I think youll find it was the Zaskar LE that was the one to have. Funny that we all picked the same one. The PACE is another favourite aswell.

The only other one I would ad to that is the Cannondale Super-Vee.

A mate of mine's brother was sponsored and he gave me a ride of his (second one in the country at the time I think) round a track at Aldershot - it was like being re-born.

Raleigh Chopper - in fact anything cooler than the 'Mayflower' unisex kid's bike that I had.

Dawes Super Galaxy

Kirk cast magnesium MTB - loved the idea, but I believe the reality disappointed?
