TVR friendly Chateau's/Hotels Normandy/Loire Valley
Discussion
Hi,
Anyone got any recomendations/links etc for good Chateau's or country hotels in Normandy or Loire Valley?
Ideally that have a swimming pool and do food and/or walking/quick taxi to local restaurants?
cheers in advance
Whitey
PS. By TVR friendly, I mean not at the top of some pot holed dirt track that will destroy my exhaust

Anyone know the hotel in a little village outside Le Mans, its where all the old drivers used to go before Le Mans, got lots of memorabilia on the walls and stuff?
I remember seeing it in an article somewhere and thought that’s worth staying in.
I think it was south-east of Le Mans?
Alan/rev-rend will know. http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/profile.asp?mem...I remember seeing it in an article somewhere and thought that’s worth staying in.

Probably got the phone number on his mobile

FWIW Highly unlikely there will be any accomodation left at this stage around the classic dates - so set your expectations low! The classic weekend is also Bastille weekend and most places are looking for a minimum of two nights stay.
If you are looking at any other time probably okay

I can highly recommend Chateau de Charly, totally fab, booked for two days last summer ended up staying a week! It is near the French GP circuit (they have had the BBC GP presenters and the McLaren drivers stay with them) and the sancerre vineyards as well.

If you wanted self catering there is a nice place about 80 miles north of Le Mans.
It sleeps 16, so good for groups. It's a converted outbuilding to a Chateau. No pool, but river at the bottom of the garden.
And a TVR friendly owner.
remind me to talk to you about that at the growlIt sleeps 16, so good for groups. It's a converted outbuilding to a Chateau. No pool, but river at the bottom of the garden.

Seems many of these suggestions have whizzed off the Loire map! Anyway, I just saw that CRAIG "up there" posted ... http://www.tortiniere.com/UK.asp ... I stayed there 2 years ago, arrived in dusty TVR Griffiths and whilst enjoying a pre-dinner drink on the terrace I was asked if they could wash my car for me! I thought "what a wonderful service" ... and indeed they did do a 1st class job. I imagined that this was some sort of special service, but learnt later that they decided that my TVR deserved it but it was not offered for all cars. So to answer the original post of "TVR Friendly" ... can you beat THAT?

Also stayed at the Tortiniere, in 2005. Lovely place, superb food and they loved the Tiv. At dinner I wanted to discuss the menu and the waiters wanted to discuss the car.
Also stayed at http://www.monhoudou.com/ . Very different, no pool etc but fantastically friendly. Dinner is at a communal table, so like a smart dinner party. I was sat next to a guy who was a journo / news editor on the Express. Really interesting evening and we all went to bed at about 2am.
Tiv at Tortiniere;

You could try this place:
http://www.grandesetapes.fr/en/Chateau-hotel-escli...
Between Chartres and Versailles. Has an outdoor heated swimming pool (not the moat)! You'll not have any trouble getting Griffith in and out of there.
