Pinlock, visors, and steaming up...
Discussion
So, I went on the NW Wheatsheaf run yesterday.
It was p1$$ing it down, but I checked the BBC weather, and it looked like it'd clear up.
It didn't.
I had my new, ever-so-ever-so-slightly-lightly-tinted new visor on, with the pinlock insert from the old one. I had to ride with the visor cracked open, as it just kept steaming up, no matter how many times I refitted it and dried ot all out.
So, just a tip... if you use pinlock, make sure the pins are twisted inwards, which really will help keep the insert pressed flush against the inside of the visor.
I know this, because I've only just worked it out, and to test it, I've been standing in the bathroom, with the shower on hot, and a clear visor. After I adjusted the pins. If only I'd thought of that last night.
Right, I'm off to buy some ear plugs now, for my ride from Preston to Newmarket tomorrow. On the motorway. On my old Divvy 600...

I use a Foggy breath guard. Best thing I've bought to stop my visor steaming. No need to keep putting solutions or mess about with these pinlock things (not sure how they work though).

It's the only thing that I've found works fully if you wear glasses... I'm on my third now.http://www.helmetharbor.com/Products/ProductDetail...

It's sort of like double glazing for the inside of the visor; there are two eccentric pins drilled through the visor, and you take the visor off the helmet, flatten it out, attach the pinlock on the inside, then refit the visor. When the visor's curved back, you get a nice seal between the pinlock and the visor - there's a silicon bead all the way round the pinlock insert, which makes the "window".You just need to make sure the pins are adjusted so that the insert sits flush against the inside of the visor, witihout any gaps.

You can also get a larger pinlock from race visors called superbike I think. Means you dont have to see the top of the pinlock when leaning forward. Seems to fit even tighter than the standard sized items. Very good in all conditions, fog, what fog.
Have you got a link?Edited by m3evo2 on Monday 30th June 15:02
