e90/91 320d - opinions?

Hi,

Any e90/91 320d drivers / have driven one PH'er out there?

How quick are they? On paper, they look great, on 05 reg 163bhp will do 0-60 8.0 secs, 140 mph, yet 45 - 65 mpg???????????? £155 annual road tax? Ins grp 14?

These look like proper Q-car bargains, will be test driving one of these and a e46 330d, but wondering what any owners experiences are?

I ran an e90 320d se for a month or so there.

Well pleased. It averaged 42mpg through fast commuting and into heavy city traffic.

Easily could break 50mpg on long runs.

I added a tuning box to mine - www.tuningbox.com - which gives it serious extra oomph.

Great allround car.

Drove dozens of them when I was delivering for a BMW dealer.
Can't fault the driving experience; swift, economical, planted.

All have run-flat tyres, which are expensive to replace.

The previous model (E46) has a reputation for turbo failure, don't know if this is still an issue with the E90.

ETA: Top Gear (Hammond) did a feature on it (in the days when they were still doing serious stuff) and gave it the 'thumbs-up'.

I have just ordered one and I thought is was as good as the 325d although did not have the same staight 6 sound.
