She who must be obeyed & I had a couple of hours terrorising the Appenzell countryside this morning in an LP560, courtesy of those nice people at Lamborghini St Gallen:

Yes, it really was a 560, apologies for the photo I blame the camera:

This was an identical car waiting for its lucky owner to pick it up. That afternoon the dealership sold another two 560's bringing their tally so far to 7 or 8 as I recall:

Ahh, this one was ours!

On the move with egear:

The sun was shining and the cows were in hiding:

I really wanted to like the LP560 but I have to say I came away a little disappointed. I was expecting the new engine & improved egear to add up to an irresistable package, but unfortunately not for me. They've softened it too much. Around town or driving at 6/10ths it feels too soft, too civilised. The exhaust note is more treble than bark. Yes when you push that bit harder the car responds and is magnificent. But I want my Lambo to feel amazing all the time, with a hard edge concealed below the surface. The "old" car has that insistent exhaust note even at low revs, willing you either to go faster or slow down and pootle along like the granny you are.

The dealer took me to his house, where he has an amazing collection of cars in an underground garage:

I've got an invite to come back and drive this gorgeous Miura:

And we picked up this, and took it for another long run:

Mrs D seemed to like it too:

We both loved the SL, and it was a manual, perfect!

So now I'm thinking of adding the SL for 18 months or so until the LP560 SL is launched, maybe that will hit the spot...

Anyway, hope that was of some interest. I'd love to hear any other experiences of the LP560!

Thanks for the feedback. I was wondering what they were like. Sounds like an SL version might be the one to wait for.
