Hi. I have a kit car that looks like it has mini disks and calipers. One of the bleed nipples has snapped flush frown so I may need to get a refurbished caliper.
I've matched the pads up in a brake pad book and have the reference MLB37 and says it's off a mini.
The caliper is a Lockheed and has these numbers (as best I can read them) on the casing B243 341D and DA2893
From this, can anyone tell me what the calipers are and what model mini they would be off (assuming I'm right and they are mini). Also where's good and cheap to get a refurbished caliper from if I can't shift the remnants of the bleed nipple........any tips on getting it out smile
Thanks

Looks like that's a caliper for the later 8.4" disc setup used with 12" wheels on a Mini, from ~'84.
Minispares do them, this is the l'hand side - L & R are different http://www.minispares.com/Product.aspx?pid=33880
They're not worth much s/h and there are usually some around if you don't want to pay that much and don't mind rebuilding one.

Take the Caliper off
Remove the piston and seals
Wire brush the area around the nipple.

Warm (not heat too much) the area around the nipple
Tap a suitable sized easyout into the hole in the centre of the nipple
Unscrew the broken bit.

I have done 4 nipples on my calipers and they all came out ok. Two thing one its an odd size if you have to tap them M7 (Please check befor tapping). The other is if you are going to replace look at getting the metro turbo disc and clipers (4 pot and vented). An easy swap.

dan you beat me to it lol. well worth the swap and not hard to come across. i'm sure you'll be able to get the old nipple out not worth buying a whole caliper just for that.
