Moving back to Australia
Discussion
After coming back 7 years ago im finally moving back down under. Due to work and other issues ive decided to go. However leaves me with selling my beloved car. Not going to bore you with details, but its a black 6.0 VXR on a 56 plate. If anyone knows of anyone interested feel free PM me. Cheers
Might be worth looking at that option, especially if you were thinking about buying another down here. Probably no profit as such to be made but maybe a saving if you were keeping it.
There are 2 VZ '05 GTOs in this week's (WA) paper, asking $55 & $56K (ie around £26K) probably a bit cheaper in other States. Where are you heading?
ETA: How long have you owned it for?

Mate, saw your car in Monarch's car park this morning (parked on the end) at just gone 8am and it was still there at 6:20 when I came home. That overtime must be hard going! I was going to stop and put a note on your windscreen saying "don't sell it" but I thought you might get paranoid!

I thought you were talking to me then! Monarch (Monarch Pool Systems, in Canning Vale) are one of my suppliers, and I usually take the Monaro rather than the Vito when I have to go there.Australia has an import quota so you need pre approval to take it there
you would also need to pay 10% GST (VAT)
Not normally worth the grief.
If anybody does send a car to Aus, make sure there is no salt left on them. I have seen many a private import dragged from a shipping container by a fork lift because the brakes are rusted and locked tight.
ps
good luck with the move, I was just there for 6 weeks and enjoyed a surf on winter solstic day

Hi Tim,
Are you saying that you don't need approval or you won't need to pay 10% GST?
Rich
I guess he is asleep, here is the Aus Customs URL www.customs.gov.au/site/page.cfm?u=4371
importing a motor vehicle
There are several steps to privately importing a motor vehicle:
Obtain a "VEHICLE IMPORT APPROVAL" from the Vehicle Safety Standards Branch of the Department of Transport and Regional Services. Phone: 1800 815 272 (Australia only) or (02) 6274 7506, Fax: (02) 6274 6013, email: Vimports@dotars.gov.au;
Pay Customs duty, GST and Luxury Car Tax (LCT) where applicable and obtain a customs clearance at the port of entry; and
Obtain quarantine clearance from the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) after the vehicle has arrived at the port of entry. For more information visit the AQIS website on www.aqis.gov.au
