Hi !

I get some noise from the purge valve/carbon can when the car is on idle. As soon as the rpm:s go over 1000 it gets quiet. Does any one else have this ?

If you have had and been able to get rid of the noise, how did you do it ?

How does the purge valve work, does it just open when the fuel pump starts or is it pulses that opens and closes it ?

The purge valve is driven from a pin on the ECU. Its turned on when the ignition is live and the fuel pump is on.

Have you removed the carbon can to check it for blockage?

Could be corroded contacts/broken wire in the purge valve connector.

If you remove it you can put 12 volts across the purge valve connector to make sure its opening OK.

Are you sure its the purge valve? I had strange noises from the plastic rollover valve and replaced it with a nice alloy mocal one.

I am not sure if it is the purge valve. It is a tapping noise that comes from behind the rear passenger seat.
