Hello
Now that the sun has finally arrived I thought it might be nice to organise a "run" somewhere (like the North Norfolk one we did last year). So to see what interest there is and where people would like to do it, I've set up the above poll.
I'm happy to plan a Suffolk route around Bury, Newmarket but what would everybody else like to do?

I was thinking about that too, perhaps venturing as far south as 'Constable Country' (Dedham), then breaking windows in the very narrow streets of Manningtree and then stopping for an ice-cream and swan-feeding by the Stour at Mistley...? Or is that too far south for general approval?

Not adverse to this, but bear in mind that for me thats a 2-3 hours (120miles each way) drive to the start of the run. My own preference would be for something more centre to our groups area so as not to alienate some of our group.

Isn't that technically Essex?

By half a mile yes. There will be a tendency I'm sure for people to vote for their own county and I just mentioned Dedham etc as it's very pretty, not to mention famous, and a convoy of meaty sports cars, plus support vehicle
would be great. But I appreciate it's at the extreme end of the region so not suitable for all. Then again, we can't always do everything in the middle, so some people will have further to go, or may think it's not worthwhile - for example I don't attend the Stamford Show. Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambs are all OK with me.I guess one problem with convoys is that there's limited chance for 'blatting' as they get broken up by traffic, junctions etc.

Not necessarily - the run could start somewhere more central and then head southeast as part of the jollities. The only disadvantage is that you get a long run home.Edited by Simpo Two on Monday 30th June 12:42

One thing we did with some of the Subaru runs was to break people up into groups of about 4-5 cars. The lead car would have instructions and a route mapped out. We would then all met up at the rendezvous point latter. That way everybody got to have a blat and there weren't 20 cars trying to overtake a tractor.Right, a swift board meeting has taken place and we're happy to appoint MarkCSC as Head of the Summer Run
Mark, it's all yours - organise away as you see best and we'll do an e-shot if you need to rustle up more people if needed
NB: Can we steer you towards September as the summer is pretty busy already.

As if permission is required?!
Mark, I am happy to sort out a run from Hunts / Cambs area and can put a route + tom tom files together.
Let me know the finishing point and I can do the rest.
Suggested Cambs / Hunts Start Point @ Swavesey Services

There is no 'permission' required of course but Mark had the idea first and offered to run it first, so after checking with Ian, we simply made him the 'organiser'. I've been organising events like this for almost 10 years and I know that the usual democratic forum banter is not good for getting things done clearly and simply - people just pile in with conflicting ideas, albeit wonderful ones, and a mess results. So we always have one person to have the final say, and this time Mark volunteered and got the job
Enthusiasm is of course very valuable and we'd all be happy for you to do something as well, but to keep things simple can it be the one after this one please? Hope you understand

I've got a couple of routes in mind for Cambridge and Suffolk that I've done before witht the Scoobie guys. One is the ring of Cambridge and is about 86 miles (can be made shorter if desired) and the other is a ring of Newmarket, about 50 miles. If we do do Norfolk I might need some help with routes as I'm not sure where is good. PM me with any other ideas.
Thanks
Mark
