ELECTRIC TRIKE WINS TIME TRIAL
Discussion
Sorry to have to blow my own trumpet but I was delighted on Sat afternoon as I achieved the fastest lap time at the Annual Electrothon held at the Haynes museum track. Anyone interested in building one can get all the plans, spec, parts suppliers details, photos, registration guide etc etc for only £50. Please have a go, it will be great fun if a few of us can get together and start a mini race series. Clips on youtube, search mev etrike. Regards Stuart

Looks really good and the performance seen will get peoples interest.
It got mine but then it went flat.
The videos did not include a fade out with contact info like a web site.
I did a Google and found nothing bar the vids.
I found your web site via your PH profile and there is nothing about it on there.
Having gotten peoples interest you really need to make as much info as possible available. There maybe a queue of customers outside the door if they only had somewhere to look.

Cant really go to town marketing the trike as mentioned, we are only selling plans for it as we are too busy with other jobs to offer chassis etc, if anyone wishes to get involved with it in some way please give me a call. I was thinking someone may wish to start a small part time business if they are good with a mig.
Street wise it's a doddle as it can be classed as a 3 wheeled moped. This would involve setting the controller to limit speed and power. You can then fit lights, round off a few bolt heads, cap a few nuts and fit a speedo. In practice ofcourse there may well be other irritating seemingly unimportant MSVA issues but I cant honestly see anything worrying in the manual.
The best bit with EV's is going to pick up your tax disc with no duty to pay.
Mopeds are allowed a screen made of plastic and dont need wipers, demisters or even a seat belt!
Thanks for posting pics Italo. Hope you like the one with my lover in (I wish)

Hi Steve, riders weight, hills, throttle ramp setting on the controller and the way you drive can reduce range to say 15 miles but then if range were the goal then a motor with regen and a lithium pack could quad that figure.
The best way to run electric vehicles is to size the pack to suit the journey so that your not taking any extra weight with you than you need.

Accepting all you said about riders weight, hills, throttle ramp setting on the controller etc. I would still like to know what sort of top speed I would make.
I like the idea of going electric on my daily drive but at 7 miles each way and the ideal route being on 4 miles worth of motorway I have to know if it could keep up with the flow.

The motor runs more effeciently at its full design speed. You therefore gear the drive to suit the desired max speed. Mine does 50mph flat out at 3600rpm. Higher speeds would require higher gearing or higher voltage. The motor rotates at 50 rpm per volt. Higher speeds would draw higher current but the range you are looking for is easy to achieve. I have 6 33Ah sealed lead acid batteries on mine. They cost £30 each. They are wired in series to give 72v.
Well I was really impressed driving it it was great fun! So much so I'm intending to build one or two. If others would like to get one then join the queue and we'll see if we can get sufficient to get some made up.
By the way Ian had a go in it too, see!

Was hoping it might manage a 40mile round trip.
