Journey home from 'Roar 08'
Discussion
Just thought i'd do a post on here of my/our journey home from 'Roar 08' yesterday.
Initially Tracie and myself were going to stay over somewhere on the peak district as we had today booked off work but decided because of the poorish (
) weather in the morning/early afternoon that we would go home BUT take a detour drive over the peak district and make our way home later (hopefully with a clearer run down the motorways)
After the presentations for prizes in the hotel we decided to leave (can't remember exact time)
I did a quick study of the map in the car-park to choose our rough route, obviously not having a clue what the roads/views would be.
We headed right when leaving the hotel drive and got out onto the A6 (heading towards Stockport)
We then turned right on the A6015 (towards Hayfield) which started to show us some of the hills in the distance.
At the end of the road we turned left on the A624 (towards Glossop) which was a nice road with some nice views, but MUCH better was to come from there on.
We got into Glossop and turned right on the A57 which is called 'snake pass' (need i say anymore) the road was fantastic with glorious views, we found a lay by to park up in to take some of the scenery in.

We followed the A57 to the Ladybower Reservoir where we turned right onto the A6013 past the Ladybower Dam, we stopped off here to use the toilets and grab an ice cream.

At the end of the road we turned right on the A6187 and then left on the B6049 and followed this in it's entirety across the A623 and on to the A6 again some nice views along this road.
We then turned right on the A6 towards, and through Buxton which is quite a nice town with some high rock edges to the road (lots of pops and bangs from me especially as i was following a Porsche Carrera s)
We headed out of Buxton on the A54 towards Congleton which was just another FANTASTIC road with awesome views.

We then stopped off in Congleton for food and petrol before heading off to the M6/M6 toll/M42/M40/M25/M23 for a CLEAR run home, had one very short part at junc 13 of M6 which was down to 40mph for about a mile.
Got in last night at 10.15pm
Have some photos that i will add later on.

Snake pass ive been on it once when ive been to glossop a great road albeit 50mph but some of the corners are tight so i suppose on this occasion i agree with the limit i would say you would be better of being the passenger as trying to drive this road and see the views are a bit difficult.
You've got to take a drive on this road but hopefully you get a clear run if you know what i mean.

Coming from Surrey i can't imagine i'm going to get another chance for a while, 250 odd miles is a fair few miles to go for a decent road (even in a TVR)You've got to take a drive on this road but hopefully you get a clear run if you know what i mean.

I was following a few other cars who didn't want to go too fast and tbh i was quite happy to plod along so i could get a bit of a look around.
