Hi all, took the old girl out for a spin today as we had some glorious sun shine, all was well until i hit some trafic! the tempreture nomally jumps up to a 100 quite quickly but today it was sitting at 110 which didn't seem right on furthur investigation it appears that both the fans don't cut in at 105 anymore, is the a simple reason for this as it hasn't done it before.
I'm worried that this could damage the engine is it wise not to drive until sorted?
Thsnks.

Check the fuses, it's unlikely to be the problem as they each have their own fuse (No.1 & 3)
Check the Water level, and then bleed the system.

There is a plug on the left hand side of the Rad on which the contacts corrode, its like a temperature senser. You have to remove the shroud in the engine bay to access it.Unplug it and clean the contacts.it worked on mine!

Coolant temperature sensor on you coolant manifolds down near the steering rack.

This should default to the "hot" condition when unplugged and should turn both fans on.

It appears though that a "dodgy" connection here can cause the fans to not work at all. I had this where they would start to run but then stop and carry on doing this. disconnecting the wiring would casue them to both come on full though.

Bit of a cock up on the set up front there.

My fans stopped working some time ago, it was the main plug under the fans. It sits in the channel nearly under the radiator, in all the dirt and damp. I just cleaned the connector and put plenty of vasaline around the pins and plug to seal it. They've been ok sincesmile
