M25 this morning...??!?!

Just a quick query.... drove round the M25 from M11 to the M3 and back again this morning (a long story and dont want to bore anyone!). But, saw lots and lots of flash fast motors:

Hand full of Bentleys and several Rollers
Quite a few older US muscle cars, couple of Corvettes, a Camaro Z28 IROC (rare!), Mustang Boss etc etc
Four Ferrari's - two 360s and one a convertible
Four Astons
Loads and loads of Porsches (though this might not be unusual)
etc
etc

So, why post this in the SP&L? Well at most junctions there was a Police car or more likely a Police motorcycle.... were the police there to counter the cars, or was there something else going on?

What time was this?
Coming in the M4 this morning, just after 6:00am I saw a Lamborghini heading out of town "making progress". Wonder if he was going somewhere special too??
I didn't actually see the car at first, just heard it and then saw a very, very wide set of rear lights receding at speed in my mirrors. Loverly sound!

Perhaps one of the Gumball/Cannonball runs? I seem to remember there's one going on around now but I can't find an events calendar.

According to the Website, this year's Gumball starts on October 12th, maybe this is the warmup lap?
