Has anyone else experienced this?
Just got back to work with my recently purchased S, to a very cold reception from a couple of guys in the office. Also muttered comments such as "flash bas
d" and "paid too much".
Now I'm the lowest paid employee, so they could afford one if they wanted.

bugger em !
we went to see friends ooop North and when we arrived it seemed like everyone in the bloody street turned out to look at the Chim - spent the next hour giving people joyrides round the block and the hour following with them all wanting a photo op in it. No "flash b*rSt*rd" comments at all - it was like they'd had a Royal visit ..

The attentions nice from the green eyed monsters, if you read between the lines they are really saying WOW

Had this in almost every job for the last three or four years.
It's varied from "Flash git" to "we are obviously paying you too much" the latter really annoyed me because it came from my new boss who knows I'm the lowest paid manager in this office!!
I just replied, "I only come here for something to do as I am already absolutley loaded" which really annoyed him!!!
Don't let it bother you, it's just pathetic jealousy.

Good grief, an S is hardly a Ferrari!! I had an S3 and experienced none of that (nor so with two Griffs). Think on this: if your colleagues really wanted a TVR they would have figured out how to buy one. So either they don't want one or they're stupid - which is it? If the former, what's the problem?
I bet if you'd spent the same amount on a Mondeo they wouldn't care less. File them under shallow twats and give them a big grin every time you see 'em

Like Flasher....I tell the Guys at work that i only work there to pay for my hobby (TVR).
As my missus is on 80 grand a year (only joking ok!)
,morgage paid off and no dependant Kids anymore,
and that i have a stack of unopened pay packets a foot high,
and you know what ? i think that some of em believe me!!!!

Excellent.. Will have to try that..
Have had a converstaion along the lines of this isn't an appropriate car etc.
Fine, I'll go work someplace else where it is appropriate then..

I've owned my Chimaera for nearly two years whilst running an MOT and fast fit centre and if the car was ever at work I would get people commenting on how beautiful it was etc. until they realised it was mine then it would all go silent. Pondered about this jealousy thing before and came to the conclusion that people just seemed to be mad with themselves! Anyone can own one just circumstances for people are different, I'm 30, don't have a family, not had an arse-ripping divorce, don't do a lot of miles therefore a TVR is within my lifestyle. I think the other thing is people possibly regarded my job as low paid, I had people I had never met before asking me in work what I was earning!
If I had bought a Mondeo for the same money or had a divorce cost me £20k nobody would have batted an eyelid.

I've never got that with TVR's.
I knew I would get that with a ferrari or a porsche which is why I bought the TVR in the first place.
IMHO TVR says 'enthusiast' instead of 'too much money'.
I have now sold the cerbie and bought a skyline R34 GTR which was way more expensive but hopefully no one will notice
I tend to be careful not to appear too flash with my colleagues (some of whom are very wealthy).

One of the guys who I considered a good mate has actually stopped talking to me!! He said to my house mate yesterday:
"So has Chris got his new car?"
"Yes."
"Is it any good?"
"Yeah it's really nice."
(moan) "It's better than what I've got, flash bas
d! Showing off, posing in a TVR, it's alright for some."
Now this guys pays £300 less rent, no bills or council tax, and earns £2500 more than me! But drives a 106 diesel. He took a loan bought a 106 XS which fell apart and he had to buy a diesel.
