My car is being photo'd for a magazine next week driving (fingers crossed and weather permitting!), so I'm looking for somewhere suitable. The photographer suggested somewhere run-down or dilapidated, either housing/industrial, I was thinking the same or an old barn.

I took a look at Park Prewett last night but most of that has been redeveloped... any ideas for places +/- 20 miles.

Plenty of choice in Bracknell...some old offices that have been empty for some time...

yes that sounds like Basingstoke alright (8 year "veteran")

There are still plenty of scummy housing estates with some "tenement" style housing, graffiti and the like, 10 min drive around popley or buckskin/westham/southam areas should suffice.

Some naff old office blocks/warehouses, many empty around Houndmills.

There is an industrial park near southam with some pretty tatty units there.

Conversely if you keep going west of Basinstoke there is some lovely countryside and villages.

You could phone up this place...

http://www.wortinghouse.co.uk/

It's neither dilapidated nor industrial but would certainly make a nice backdrop. You would require permission but it's possible to get a car right up to the front door.

You could try Tylney Hall hotel, Audleys wood hotel. Some nice villages nearby....Hartney Wintney, Rotherwick, Cliddesdon, Odiham or even go for a drive and head up the A30 to the Holloway college at Egham.

You could get a pic outside the John Nike leisure centre in Bracknell - it's the very one Ali G tried to 'save' in his crap film and looks like st.

Kingsclere is another nice village, if you head out to Ecchinswell from Kingsclere there's a country lane that runs alongside a small river. Another area is Tufton or wherwell near Whitchurch, if you look around you will find some nice locations by the river test.

They didn't actually use the John Nike... just the name.

Which mag is shooting your car?

Lovely area with the View over the downs not far away, Loads of local history including a shoot up in a Kingsclere village pub between some American airman during WW2 eek in which a number of people died including the landlord or landlady. Also the baby doll murder mystery that put Ecchinswell under a cloud for years back in the 70's and 80's.

Go to Fleet pond...

If you can get access (Perhaps slip security a few bob)....the abandond national Gas turbine research establishment at pyestock would make an amazing backdrop...

I dont have many external shots....but its is an AWSOME place...

Bit futher from basingstoke,

qinetiq (spelling) own an old MOD proving ground not from hampshire, cant remember the name of the place, I did my ride-drive "track" bit there,

TONS of old cranes/lifting gear, clapped out buildings, expanses of tarmac etc.

Might be a bit of short notice to book (you'll have to pay) but it would be ideal,

In fact, autocar were there taking pictures of some new citreon saloon at the same time I was there.
