Is this the same weekend as the Rivival meeting at Goodwood? I'm getting geared up for Brands Hatch and I am still recovering from driving to Spa in one day. Just wondering how many people will be at Donnington for Touring cars?

I should be going on Sunday, depending on the weather and Saturday nights alcohol consumption

Well as I've given up trying to use their advance ticket line which would have saved us £11 we're going to watch it on 'Motors TV' with the addition of chicken wire infront of the TV, and racegirls going to chuck dust all over the car and charge me £3 for a we're then going to sit in the car on the drive for an hour to simulate the usual chaos getting off the infield
I'll just have to make do with the track evening the following Monday

Went on Saturday, and saw the current generation of BTCC cars for the first time. They are without doubt the stupidest looking racing cars I've ever seen. What is the point in having a whacking great rear 'wing' up on stilts if its flat and doesn't produce any downforce? They look ridiculous. Loks like they cater to the Lax Power market, i.e make it look like a proper racing car, but don't go to far. Bring on the ETCC cars next year, which actually look like proper racers, even if they are slower. Edenbridge Racing's BMW in the paddock looks fantastic.

The most annoying thing is though, that when these rules were dreamt up after the collapse of Super Touring, TOCA had the oppurtunity to use DTM rules (i.e 4 litre V8's, rear wheel drive, huge downforce) for about the same cost, and didn't choose them. I think SCV8 will kill off the BTCC as we know it, because it gives people what they want. Big, fast, noisy cars with rear wheel drive, loads of power and not too much grip.

ASCAR, SCV8, ETCC and TOCA rules are all wrong. What is needed is a return to Production Cars.

Production cars are boring, not enough power. Fans will leave in their droves. If they want to see production cars race they'll pay half (sometimes a lot less) the entrance fee and watch National Championships instead.

I was watching some early Bathurst races; pack the fields and bring costs down and numbers up!

Yes but I can see a standard looking Pug 307 or BMW 320i anywhere. I want to see a proper racing car. Fans would leave in droves in production rules were broght in, because people want to see fast, loud racing cars. I do anyway. Thats why I love sportscar racing so much
