Due to hearing a slight ticking noise from the tappets. I decided to check and adjust the valve clearances.. While taking the rocker cover off, unclipping the VTEC solenoid connector, I noticed that the screw holding the cable onto the oil switch was very loose (this was hidden by a rubber cover to the right of the oil filter).. After adjusting two slack inlet valves.. put it back together and went for a test drive..

Wot a difference, it felt like a new car, engine sounded quieter and felt smoother.. I can't see that two slighlty slack valves would make that much of a difference.

Could it have been the loose cable on the oil switch ?, Would the loose cable affect the VTEC solenoid to make it work properly ?....

Has anybody else experienced this ?.
