S3 SPEEDO ODOMETER HELP!!

Hi Guys & Gals

The speedo on my S3 works fine but the odometer is stuck and is not clocking up the miles, any tips or tricks to get it working again would be greatly appreciated!

Is it stuck on something ending with a 9?
Some have said tapping on the glass while driving it can make it start going.

Andy are you you on classic insurance with limited milage? Are you sure you want it to work?

Yes it ends with a 9 and I've tapped and tapped for the last 2 weeks and nothing happening. The reason I need it sorted is that I'm selling my beloved S3 and buying a 911 so I only think it's fair that the new owner has a working odometer. Any ideas you fellow tappers?

I have a spare speedo on about 70k would need some tidying (bezle painting) and the wire has been cut to a little extra cable and new connector. If you are interested let me know and I'll check the mileage

Hi Andy

I have no idea of the worth of a speedo. I have a full set of instruments which I was planning to put on ebay some time all of which were removed from a spare dashboard I bought. I was told all were working but not in a good cosmetic condition and the three core wires connected to speedo and rev counter had been cut. The speedo shows just over 91k. have a look at the pictures below and make me an offer by a PM I think not on the forum, i guess i would have started the ebay auction at £25

im not surprised i was desperate to write it down and couldn't find a pen, any how new thread started

Colin while you're at it and if it isn't too much trouble I'm trying to figure out which way round the wires go in the transducer, as, er, mine aren't attached anymore

Can you tell me in relation to the 'MADE IN ENGLAND' writing - so which coloured wire is at the 'M' end and which one is at the 'D' end.

TAPPING WORKS
Thanks for the reminder guys, my odometer was jammed on a 9
it was a cracking day so I decided to take the S on a site visit
accross country, to the outskirts of Edinburgh I had a good fast run
not too much traffic so I started tapping, tapped harder, drove over some rough
patches in the road tapped again, next time I looked it was working & its worked all day
Fingers crossed it still works tomorrow and the next day
