removing rear seats and passenger seat
Discussion
Hi all,
Going on a driving holiday to wales and want to carry minimal weight plus I need to fit a mountain bike in - contradiction I know!
My question is; how easy is it to remove and re-install the rear seats as well as the passenger seat?
Also how heavy roughly are the rear seats?
Thanks,
Mark

The rear seats weigh as much as 4 pieces of foam rubber with a leather cover on
it doesn't really create a huge amount more space as there is really nothing to them, but they are pretty easy to remove, but the nuts will be rusty as thy are all located underneath the car. The passenger seat is fairly heavy, 4 bolts underneath the car, and you need a large flat bladed screwdriver to hold the bolt heads flat in the seat runners, while you use your elongated 3rd arm to reach under the car and undo the (rusted) nuts.

Or an angle grinder/dremel cut-off tool on the bolts underneath, then fork out a handfull of loose change for some new bolts... much less painfull, believe me. When you put it back use a seperate nut as a lock nut rather than nylocks - makes it the work of minutes to take it out again if you want to.FUBAR said:

The idea of the trip is to combine a driving holiday with some mountain biking. We are going to wales and plan to drive the roads at sparrows fart when there is nobody around and then go mountain biking during the day. I could take the volvo but would not be quite as fun driving that tbh!
