I have the old version of the XT disc brakes, the 4 pot system that used 160mm rotors as standard and 203mm if you used an adaptor and larger rotors. Having tried it at 203mm a few years back, I decided that that was too much braking for me and my forks, but now I want a little bit more than the standard 160mm. Shimano now do a 180mm rotor for the latest XT system but no IS to IS 20mm adaptor, the question is, can I use another brand's (Hope,Magura) 20mm IS to IS adaptor to get the extra? I think it would work in theory, just wondering if anyone has had any luck or found another solution? (Other than a 2008 Saint system)

I'm pretty sure (90%) that any post adapter will work fine.

Could always buy, hold it next to the fork, calliper and rotor... see if its right, then put a bolt in. If its not, send it back unused smile

Hopefully smile

Have gone for a A2Z +20mm adaptor, not as nice as the Hope (not that I think there'd be much difference in a piece of alu with four holes in it) but slightly cheaper, designed to be generic and definitely comes in black...which is the most important thing.

All fitted now and it seems to work, just waiting for the pads to bed in.
