Ricoh Caplio R4 wont focus

Hi Guys, little bit of advice needed for a non DSLR man pls if you don't mind...

My Ricoh Caplio R4 just wont focus, hasn't been dropped or anything.

I'm sure its a case of send off for service but i'm off to LeMans Classic next week & would like it back/working for that. I can't see happening !! Is it possible to reboot it at all ?


Unfortunatly i have a feeling i'll be looking to buy a replacement before i go. I really would like a DSRL but just dont think i'd use it enough to warrant the extra cost/size, so, any recomendations pls ?



Just what i didn't need with the Tele going pop 2 days ago !!! I'm praying not to have a third !!!!

Sounds like its working mechanically just blurred...

Are you using it in low light, or aiming it at a blank area? AF systems need contrast to lock onto. As for blurred, is it just out of focus or camera-shake (=smear)?

Well its low light now


Totally out of focus, no shake as i've had a glass of Red

Well try it tomorrow in sunlight, and if it doesn't focus then, my conclsuion is that's it's fked.
