Borrowed this off my Dad last night - last saw daylight in the 70's apparently!

Need to get a battery for the exposure meter... 1.35 M20 (#625) Mercury Battery. I understand that they're banned now but I guess a camera shop in town will have something - but i can't wait for the weekend.

Planning to see how I get on with this before i decide whether to splash out on a DSLR. I seem to be worryingly excited having a new toy to play with.

Heh used to love playing around with my old all manual SLRs. Had a Pentax K1000 and a Praktica MTL5b.

I expect you will get an equivelant battery for it. Make sure you goto a proper independant shop/lab. More likely be able to test it/show you how to use it properly too rather than a jobsworth in boots :-)

Good luck!

If you can't get a battery that fits don't lose heart - chances are you can fabricate something suitable.

I was messing around with an old Canon the other day that had about 6 watch batteries taped together and wrapped in paper to produce a battery of the correct size and voltage!
